Research in our laboratory focuses on two major issues: the origin and maintenance of sexual versus asexual reproduction in a North American freshwater snail and, secondly, how coevolutionary interactions with a snail-crushing cichlid have shaped geographic variation in the defensive traits of a freshwater snail in Cuatro Ciénegas, Mexico.
