The University of New Orleans, Department of Biological Sciences

Despite the terrible devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is still one of the North America's most interesting and culturally vibrant cities. There are many challenges ahead for both our University and the neighborhoods and communities of this city. We need to provide incentives to bring all people back to this city, to provide strong education and health care for all citizens, to protect our city from man-made disasters through proper levee protection and to restore our coastal wetlands. If we can say that one thing describes the uniqueness of New Orleans it is the rich tapestry of our neighborhoods, with many of the unscathed neighborhoods containing a unique mix of one-of-a-kind retail shops, world-class restaurants, and music venues. The fabric of many neighborhoods has been torn apart by Katrina and our mission is to restore the unique culture and traditions of our city. Please explore the links below to discover the beauty and uniqueness of our city.
